Stewart Addison Strang loving companion, father and grandfather
Olean- Stewart Addison Strang, a member of the Olean community, passed away on April 12, 2024, at Olean General Hospital. He was born on October 6, 1941, in Franklinville, the son of the late Myron and Gertrude Palmer Strang.
Stewart spent many years traveling with his brothers while they worked for the carnival. He also worked as a short order cook, a taxi driver and a driver for the Olean Times Herald. He loved spending time with his family, traveling, telling stories from his crazy adventures with the carnival.
Survivors include his daughter Marcella (Brian) Babb; a grandson, Ashton Strang; his long-time partner, Beverly Dennis, all of Cuba; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Myron and Gertrude; his brothers, David, Vernon, Lloyd, Loren, Jerry, and Daniel Strang; and four sisters, Jacqueline Luntz, and Virginia McGavisk, and infant sisters Rebecca and Carolyn Strang.
The family will receive friends to honor Stewart’s life from 3 PM to 4 PM on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Guenther Funeral Home Inc., 1303 E. State St., Olean. A funeral service will be held immediately following at 4 PM on Friday, April 19th, officiated by Reverend Mark Quigley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s for Cystic Fibrosis at 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105, or Portville American Legion at 24 S Main St, Portville, NY 14770 in honor of his brothers who served in the US Military.
