Ryan J. Callahan- a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend

Asheville NC- Ryan J. Callahan, passed away unexpectedly at his home in North Carolina on Thursday, April 4, 2024.

Ryan was born on June 19, 1983 in Olean and is the son of Kevin and Karen Callahan.

Ryan graduated from Olean High School in 2001, and went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree in Business and Legal Studies from the State University of New York at Fredonia in 2005. After college, Ryan found his passion in sales. His intelligence, dedication and resilience earned him recognition as a top salesman for both Toyota and Verizon. With this experience, Ryan went on to open his own successful insurance agency.

Ryan enjoyed playing golf, hockey, pickle ball and cheering on his Atlanta Falcons. However, nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with family and friends, evident in his unforgettable smile, that would light up a room in their presence. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

Ryan is survived by his parents, Kevin and Karen Callahan; his siblings, Shaun (Rhonda) Callahan, Caitlyn Callahan, Kevin (KC) Callahan Jr; his grandmother, Carole Dwaileebe, who he adored; and many loving aunts, especially his aunt Nina Dwaileebe (who always held a special place in his heart); several uncles, cousins; and friends, especially Kathy Melvin, who was like a second mother to Ryan and her husband Craig Melvin, who gave Ryan the lifetime experience in Atlanta to be on the sidelines to root on his favorite team.

He was predeceased by grandfather (Giddi) John Dwaileebe, Sr.; his grandmother, Barbara Callahan; his uncle, Jack Callahan; and his beloved dog Lilly.

Family and friends will be received from 4 - 7 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2024 at Guenther Funeral Home, Inc. 1303 East State Street, Olean. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2024 at St. John’s Church 931 N. Union, Olean. Burial will follow in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.
